Assassin’s Creed Timeline

The way the world works:

In 2012, Desmond Miles is forced into the Animus – a machine that can read the DNA of the user in order to relive ancestral memories – by Abstergo Industries, the modern-day face of the Knights Templar. Desmond is a descendant of several lines of prominent Assassins who found the Apple of Eden in the Crusade Era. Desmond learns about the war that has been going on since the beginning of time between the free minded Assassins and the Knights Templar who use religion as a path to power. If The DaVinci Code playing with the Bible makes you feel un-easy, these games are not for you. The games include every fiction story about history in them that the internet could create!

Readers note: There are multiple ways to experience Assassin’s Creed. You can play it in historical order or modern day order. As the larger frame work story is modern day, this guide will follow that frame work. It is also assumed that you will download and play or watch all downloadable content. There is no term ‘canon’ used by Ubisoft (game developers), even though the games have a canon-like set up. If a better way to tell what’s in and what’s out comes along, future changes to this timeline will reflect that.
